If you've got different POP3 accounts - that is to say Windows Live Mail, Gmail, yahoo Mail etc, CheckMail supports multiple custom notifications and even filtering and much more. It has it's own virus filter which seems pretty solid although as mentioned, it can preview mail before you download it anyway so you'll have a good idea weather it's malicious or not from the start.
An excellent auto e-mail checking utility although don't be surprised if CheckMail lags behind your real e-mail client in telling you when you've got new messages.
